BARRE VT BHA SEVEN-PROPERTY SOURCE REVIEW — http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/properties.aspx and the matching name/address table http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/waitingList.aspx, reviewed September 29, 2026. The authority's seven tabs describe 361 total inventory units, not vacant apartments: five are labelled Barre City, one Graniteville and one East Barre. The Barre subset has 5 named properties: Green Acres (Chatot and Bergeron Street, Barre City; 49 described units); Washington Apartments (14 Washington Street, Barre City; 46 described units); Tilden House (16 South Main Street, Barre City; 77 described units); Jefferson Apartments (25 Jefferson Street, Barre City; 24 described units); North Barre Manor (455 North Main Street, Barre City; 120 described units). Graniteville and East Barre are the source's locality labels; these sites are not silently placed in Barre City. The tab's estimated waits have no published update date, so call BHA to confirm rather than assuming availability. Green Acres' tab says “Chatot and Bergeron Streets” while the address table says “Chatot and Bergeron Street”; the multi-street group has no verified single residential entrance and is unpinned. Washington Apartments is at 14 Washington Street in the address table, NOT at the agency's nearby 30 Washington Street, Suite 1 office (http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/contact.aspx). BHA's http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/waitingList.aspx encourages applications but explicitly says it does NOT offer site-based waiting lists; waits differ by apartment type and quoted months on the property tabs are unverified current estimates. The same page says tenant rent is based on 30% of adjusted monthly income. BHA's http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/applications.aspx links an online application and a paper application and distinguishes BHA-owned public housing from private-market Housing Choice Vouchers and project-based voucher developments. Its income table is labelled April 1, 2024, NOT necessarily today's thresholds; the 2026 HCV payment standards on that page are a voucher schedule, not site rents. BHA says this is not emergency housing. Contact (802) 476-3185 at 30 Washington Street, Suite 1, Barre VT 05641 to check current list, eligibility, residential entrance and screening. No source verifies a current vacancy or felony acceptance. “BHA” on these pages means Barre Housing Authority, a municipally based authority (http://www.barrehousingauthority.com/). The separate Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA) maintains its own portfolio at https://www.vsha.org/housing/; these seven BHA tabs do NOT establish VSHA ownership, operation or a shared application/waitlist. Do not send applicants to a VSHA list for BHA public housing without confirmation.
