Where Our Information Comes From
Information on this site may come from several sources:
- Direct contact with apartment communities and management companies (for example, phone calls asking about screening policies)
- Publicly available information, such as a property's own website or published screening criteria
- Anonymized experiences submitted by renters, which are always moderated before anything is published
- General research into state and local housing resources
What "Reported" Means
When we describe a property's screening policy, we describe what was reported to us at a specific point in time — by the property, its website, or a renter. Policies change with new ownership, new management, and new rules. A reported policy is not a promise, and it may be out of date by the time you read it. Always contact the property directly to verify its current policy before paying an application fee.
What We Never Do
- We never guarantee that any property will approve an application. Apartment owners and managers make independent decisions on every application.
- We never fabricate policies, statistics, approval rates, or property information.
- We never publish user submissions without review, and we never publish personally identifying information from submissions.
Review and Freshness
Records carry a "last verified" date wherever screening information is displayed. We periodically re-review records, and information that has not been re-verified within a reasonable window is marked as no longer verified or removed from display. Pages show a visible last-updated date.
Corrections
If you represent a property and want to correct or remove information about it, or if you are a renter who found something outdated, please contact us. We review every correction request and update or remove records that cannot be supported.
