Finding housing after a conviction can be difficult. You still have options.

Fair Housing Commitment

Our Commitment to Equal Access

Apartments for Felons is committed to the principles of equal housing opportunity. We firmly believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect during their housing search.

We serve all users and refer housing resources regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or other protections that apply under relevant federal, state, or local laws.

While individuals with criminal records are not automatically a protected class under the federal Fair Housing Act, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued guidance stating that blanket bans on renting to anyone with a criminal record may violate the Fair Housing Act if such policies have a disparate impact on protected classes. We encourage all housing providers to use individualized assessments in their screening processes.
