SANTA FE COUNTY THREE NEIGHBORHOODS AND HOUSING NM TWO DIRECTORIES — SANTA CRUZ. https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/programs/public-housing-program calls the three Santa Fe COUNTY public-housing neighborhoods Valle Vista (71 remaining RENTAL units after sales), Valle de Esperanza in Santa Cruz (61), and Camino de Jacobo (68). These displayed neighborhood figures SUM TO 200, while the SAME page and https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services say the authority manages 198 public-housing units. The discrepancy is unresolved; neither figure establishes empty apartments. The twelve Valle Vista homeownership townhomes are NOT public rentals and must not be added to the 71. The main office at 52 Camino de Jacobo is not a representative address for every scattered residence. https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/housing-services-faq provides area-level directions, not a complete residential entrance roster. https://survey.housingnm.org/renters/subsidized-rental-properties#Santa_Fe has FOUR Santa Fe listings: Encino Villa Apartments, Sangre De Cristo Apartments, Santa Fe Apartments and Villa Consuelo Apartments. ALL FOUR reappear in https://survey.housingnm.org/renters/affordable-rental-properties#Santa_Fe, which lists THIRTY Santa Fe entries in total. After merging those four identical addresses, there are TWENTY-FIVE ordinary apartment/community leads on these lists. The other FIVE affordable-directory entries are Challenge NM Group Home One (1888 Calle Quedo, 505-266-3116), Challenge NM Group Home Two (1868 Vista del Sur, same phone), Challenge NM Svcs/Hndcap. (631 Agua Fria St, same phone), Santa Fe Community Living (664 Alta Vista St, 505-867-2792), and YSFS Transitional Living Program (4435-A Airport Road, 505-983-0586). These five SPECIALIZED group/service/transitional contacts are retained as leads, NOT labeled as conventional apartment records with individual rental availability. The two Housing New Mexico directories expressly mix housing authorities, nonprofits, private and for-profit owners; Housing New Mexico itself does NOT manage these properties. NONE of their Santa Fe cards establishes Santa Fe County Housing Authority ownership. Reviewed September 29, 2026. 1. Valle de Esperanza Housing Neighborhood (COUNTY public-housing neighborhood; not a single apartment pin) — Santa Cruz, near McCurdy Road and Camino de Roberto (south of Española). Santa Fe COUNTY public-housing neighborhood in SANTA CRUZ, NOT Santa Fe city. The authority describes 61 RENTAL units, the Abedon Lopez Senior Center, a community-center Boys & Girls Club and a resident council. The senior CENTER is not evidence that every housing unit is senior-only. Its FAQ gives directions near McCurdy Road and Camino de Roberto, not a specific apartment entrance; do not map the entire neighborhood to a guessed number. No live vacancies are verified. Source https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/programs/public-housing-program Applications and distinct waitlists: https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services says Santa Fe COUNTY public-housing applicants must meet its low-income guideline (below 80% of area median income, subject to current limits), and it describes working-family, full-time student/training and elderly/disabled preferences. Its https://www.santafecountynm.gov/uploads/documents/Application_for_Admission_Form.pdf form lists public housing and several distinct voucher programs and describes a waitlist priority sequence of unit size, preference, then submission time. The form's availability does NOT prove that the public-housing list is currently open; call the agency at 505-992-3060 to confirm current acceptance, eligible unit sizes and documentation before submitting it. https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/programs/housing-choice-voucher contradicts itself: older text says the agency accepts HCV applications, but its explicit current notice says its HCV/Section 8 waitlist is CLOSED. Do not invite new HCV applications based on the stale line. The https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/housing-services-faq explains county public housing is rented directly from the authority and normally income-based; a housing voucher is a DIFFERENT program for private-market rentals. County office: 52 Camino de Jacobo, Santa Fe, NM 87507; https://www.santafecountynm.gov/housing-services/housing-forms links English/Spanish application forms. For the other Housing New Mexico listings, call each operator about income limits, current rates, openings and application process; their directory entry does not establish an active vacancy. Screening and limits: https://survey.housingnm.org/renters/subsidized-rental-properties#Santa_Fe and https://survey.housingnm.org/renters/affordable-rental-properties#Santa_Fe say property-level applications can consider household composition, rental and credit histories, income and background checks, with extra criteria varying by operator. The county links a public-housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy at https://www.santafecountynm.gov/uploads/documents/Admissions_and_Continued_Occupancy_Policy%28ACOP%29.pdf; no property-level approval for any particular criminal history is established here. Ask the county or each separate operator for the current written screening and review rules. A directory listing, available-to-rent PROGRAM inventory, and an undated photo brochure do not prove a vacancy. Reviewed September 29, 2026.
