MPHA FORTY-FOUR PROPERTY DIRECTORY CARDS — Minneapolis Public Housing Authority's 44-card Minneapolis directory https://mphaonline.org/properties/, reviewed September 29, 2026. Forty-two separate high-rise building cards, Glendale's existing 184-home multi-building community and a scattered-site family-home group.

See the Minneapolis city page and the linked property detail pages for address-specific counts, unit mix, amenities and site contacts. MPHA leasing office 612-342-1475; https://mphaonline.org/mpha-housing/ (reviewed September 29, 2026). Site property managers handle residents, not leasing or applications; their numbers below are for on-site questions, not a way to join a waitlist.

MPHA says incomes must be at or below 80% of area median income and that applicants undergo criminal-history screening; it explicitly says that simply having a criminal history does not disqualify a person. This is not a guarantee for any specific conviction or property: request the current written policy https://mphaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/2026-Statement-of-Policies.pdf.

Seniors age 62+ apply in person at MPHA, 1001 Washington Avenue North, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (https://mphaonline.org/mpha-housing/housing-for-seniors/).

Near-elderly ages 50–61 and qualifying adults 18–49 with documented disability use their respective portal application paths (https://mphaonline.org/mpha-housing/housing-for-near-elderly/; https://mphaonline.org/mpha-housing/housing-for-general-occupancy/).

The family-housing waitlist is currently CLOSED (https://mphaonline.org/mpha-housing/housing-for-families/); its RentCafé instructions apply to people with existing applications or a future reopening, not a current opportunity to join. MPHA's office is an application site, not a residence. A property card, unit count or application page is not evidence of a vacant unit or a property-specific screening decision.

SAINT PAUL PHA SIXTEEN PUBLIC HOUSING HI-RISES — Sixteen distinct public-housing hi-rises at residential street addresses in Saint Paul (2,554 total apartments across the 16 published building counts; this is not the number of open rentals). St.

Paul PHA's 16-building public-housing directory https://www.stpha.org/general-program-public-housing/hi-rise, reviewed September 29, 2026, says its hi-rises are designed for people age 62+, people with disabilities, or single adults; this is not a blanket age-62 rule for all applicants.

Shared building features include elevators, manager/human-services coordinator, laundry, individual thermostats, refrigerators, community room, nearby transit, emergency response cords, controlled entry/security camera and package lockers. It says electric stoves are standard except at Mt. Airy.

Site-specific services, activities and floor plans are historical page descriptions, not guaranteed current offerings or individualized eligibility. The pages do not state a currently open hi-rise waiting list, live vacancies, rent amounts, or conviction-specific approval rules.

Contact the PHA rental office at 651-298-5158 (contact https://www.stpha.org/contact-us) for current intake, rent, disability accommodations and written screening. The separate HCV waiting-list notice and scattered-site announcement on the PHA home page are not hi-rise openings; the PHA office at 555 Wabasha Street North is not a residence. BROOKLYN PARK CITY RENTER AND SENIOR HOUSING DIRECTORY — Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County: 38 city-listed rental communities, 37 with matching city-map addresses, plus the city senior-housing directory.

See the Brooklyn Park city page for each building's city-listed bedroom sizes, program categories, map inventory, five overlapping senior rental entries, one unpinned senior campus, three non-rental ownership leads and source links.

Hennepin County's emergency rent assistance page https://www.hennepincounty.gov/housing/hennepin-county-housing-stories/hennepin-county-emergency-rental-assistance points people facing housing loss to RentHelpHennepin and describes targeted assistance tied to an eviction filing and income/household criteria; this is not an apartment or a promise of funding.

Brooklyn Park's renter page https://www.brooklynpark.org/housing/renting/ also links its local emergency-assistance application, HousingLink, fair-housing/tenant-notification policies, HOME Line and LawHelpMN. The 30-day pre-eviction notice ordinance on that page names a February 17–March 19, 2026 emergency period and says it may be extended; do not assume it is currently in force without checking the city.

Metro HRA https://metrocouncil.org/Housing/Services/Metro-HRA-Rental-Assistance.aspx serves most suburban Hennepin County with Housing Choice Vouchers; its current page says its waiting list is CLOSED.

Its applications page https://metrocouncil.org/Housing/Services/Metro-HRA-Rental-Assistance/Applications.aspx describes an April 9–16, 2025 lottery, not a new 2026 application window; existing applicants should use the linked status instructions or call Metro HRA at 651-602-1428. Metro HRA voucher help and the city directory's voucher-acceptance labels are separate from landlord screening and property availability.

PLYMOUTH HRA TWO SENIOR BUILDINGS AND CITY HOUSING LIST — Plymouth's HRA Section 8 page https://www.plymouthmn.gov/departments/community-economic-development/housing/section-8 lists 34 named, addressed housing leads: seven senior, three income-based/subsidized and 24 other rentals (a mixed market-rate/Section 42 group, not a guarantee of any particular property's program).

Plymouth Towne Square appears in the senior list and Vicksburg Crossing in the other-rentals list; both are the TWO HRA-owned 55+ independent-living buildings detailed by https://www.plymouthmn.gov/departments/community-economic-development/housing/senior-housing. The remaining 32 are city referrals, not claimed as HRA-owned or currently available. Reviewed September 29, 2026.

Plymouth HRA's Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list is CLOSED and the HRA is not accepting new HCV applications (https://www.plymouthmn.gov/departments/community-economic-development/housing/section-8, reviewed September 29, 2026). Its approximately 375 mostly tenant-based vouchers support privately owned rentals and are not 375 open apartments.

The section 8 page says eligible applicants generally need household income no more than 50% of area median income and presents 2025 income figures; ask for current limits. A listing on that page does not establish voucher acceptance by that property or a vacancy. The current HCV Administrative Plan is available on request, not published as a property-specific conviction-screening determination.

Contact Plymouth Housing Division at 763-509-5410 or section8@plymouthmn.gov for current policies and HousingLink for other assistance lists. City Hall at 3400 Plymouth Boulevard is an office, not an apartment. See the Plymouth city page and the two HRA senior building pages for site-specific unit mix, rent methodology, amenities and city-listed third-party housing leads.

The HRA's reported two-bedroom Towne Square waitlist intake is distinct from its closed Housing Choice Voucher list.

ST CLOUD HRA SUBSIDIZED AND RESIDENT PORTAL PROPERTY RECONCILIATION — The supplied subsidized page https://stcloudhra.com/subsidized-housing/ describes three named HRA-owned residences (Germain Towers, Grace McDowall and Northway B); the supplied online resident portal https://stcloudhra.com/online-resident-portal/ lists 18 resident account entries, not 18 verified vacancies.

Following the HRA's public rental directory https://stcloudhra.com/rental-properties/ and its linked detail pages provides 13 named housing groups represented below; Swisshelm One/Two and Westwood One/Two each share a group page, while Cedar Ridge, Flintwood and Quarry Ridge appear only in the supplied resident portal and have no address/bedroom/opening evidence there.

Four groups have individual street addresses; the other nine have road-only, range, multi-building or scattered-site locations and are not mapped to a guessed entrance. St. Cloud HRA subsidized overview https://stcloudhra.com/subsidized-housing/, HRA rental directory https://stcloudhra.com/rental-properties/ and linked property detail pages; reviewed September 29, 2026.

The overview lists household income limits of $37,500 / $42,850 / $48,200 / $53,550 / $57,850 / $62,150 / $66,450 / $70,700 for one through eight persons, without a dated effective period; confirm the current limits and applicable program before applying. It says subsidized Germain, Grace and Northway B rent is income-based with residents paying utilities, unlike its public-housing portfolio.

HRA-owned properties are smoke-free. Background checks are mentioned but no property-specific acceptance of a particular conviction is promised; request written criteria. A waitlist labelled “open” does not mean a unit is available. The resident portal https://stcloudhra.com/online-resident-portal/ is for resident account access, not a vacancy board or proof of an open application.

Its Westwood links use guest-login paths even though they appear on the resident page; do not infer waitlist status from URL names. The generic applicant link https://stcloudhra.com/vp-applicant/ leads toward an HRA page that did not provide a working public application at review; use each property's official instructions and call St. Cloud HRA at 320-252-0880 to confirm intake. The office at 1225 W St.

Germain Street is not Germain Towers at 905 W St. Germain Street. The St. Cloud city page provides addresses or unpinned site references, unit claims, waitlist labels, rent information, eligibility notes, and the official links for all supported groups. Source conflicts in Germain, Grace, Empire and Wilson unit totals are retained, not silently reconciled.

A practical next step

Preparing your application

A little preparation can help you ask better questions before paying an application fee.

  • Gather proof of income (recent pay stubs, an offer letter, or bank statements).
  • Collect positive references from prior landlords or employers where possible.
  • Prepare a brief, honest explanation letter that provides context for your record.
  • Ask each property directly about its reported screening policy before paying any application fee.
  • Confirm the lookback period and which offense types a property may consider.

Frequently asked questions

What do the screening and verification statuses mean on Minnesota listings?

A listing's screening status describes the policy reported for that property, while its verification status describes the status of that information. Check both, along with any verification date, and contact the property directly because policies can change.

Are all Minnesota listings verified?

No. Unverified records may be publicly visible. Each listing displays its verification status, and a verification date appears when one is available.

Does a listing in Minnesota guarantee approval?

No. A listing is not a promise of acceptance. Screening policies and decisions are made by each property; contact it directly to confirm its current requirements before applying.

Where can I find state-specific guidance for Minnesota?
